Artists connect the dots - we don't interpret the lines between them.  We just draw them and then present our connections to the world as a gift, to be taken or left." - Amanda Palmer, The Art of Asking

Karrie is exploring themes of excess and balance through a continuation of mark making, movement and color.  Often combining her work with multimedia, she stretches the boundaries of the traditional use of acrylic paint resulting in paintings full of energy and reflection.

Karrie is a painter living in Salem, Massachusetts.

Artist's Statement

As an artist I am interested in mining my perception of people's psychological landscapes as well as their actual external environments.  The choice of images and symbols I work with, and the way I juxtapose them to create unique situations and possibilities reflects this.  At work is also the undercurrent of my unconscious: my paintings are often a pictorial representation of my journey-like dreams. I am influenced by artists as diverse as Sargent, Sheeler, Velasquez, and Rauschenberg.

As I work through a piece, I fall more in love with with my subjects, their unique potential, their vulnerabilities, and their spirit.  The environments I create for them have the elements of a good story: heroes, conflict, possible resolution.  It is up to the viewer to interpret exactly what the story is, and how they choose to relate to it.

I am available to paint commissioned work.  I work in the greater Boston area, where I am available for visits by appointment at my studio.  I am also available to meet with you at your home to discuss my process and what your needs are.
