Bakers Island is a private island. There is no public access. But guess what? You can visit the Light Station with Essex Heritage!

Essex Heritage will be hosting escorted, guided boat tours aboard our landing craft, Naumkeag, to Bakers Island Light Station. Bakers Island Light Station is ONLY accessible to the public through these tours with Essex Heritage.


Please read all the information listed below before purchasing ticket(s). The trip to Bakers Island Light Station is experience unlike any other, and there is a lot that you need to know before you go!

There are 3 ways to get your tickets:

  1. Tickets may be purchased online. Purchase tickets. 
  2. Tickets may be purchased with a credit card at Essex Heritage's Visitor Information Desk located in the National Park Service Visitor Center (2 New Liberty St, Salem) up to 30 minutes before departure.
  3. Tickets may be purchased with a credit card at the dock 25 minutes before departure providing any are still available. Naumkeag departs from the Salem Ferry dock at 10 Blaney Street, Salem MA 01970. 

Please Note: It is recommended that tickets be purchased online in advance. All tickets must be purchased with a credit card, no cash or checks. You will receive an e-ticket with your ticket code immediately upon completion of your purchase. Simply print your e-ticket or present it electronically at the dock. No ticket will be mailed to you.
