We made it!
The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival will celebrate its 10th season this summer and the nonprofit’s volunteer board of directors will surely stop and savor this incredible accomplishment occasionally throughout the year.
Please join us, as we wouldn’t be here without you. Salem residents and those from surrounding communities have contributed to the festival’s success since our first sold-out fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus on April 21, 2007.
You’ve attended our concerts and put a couple bucks in the bucket; you’ve sponsored us with your small businesses; you’ve lent a hand as volunteers or with professional services; you’ve helped us as employees of the City of Salem; and you’ve patted us on the back and said “thanks.”
The festival’s volunteer board thanks you back!
Our mission – producing free concerts and supporting music-education causes on Massachusetts’s North Shore – wouldn’t be feasible without your help. We steer the festival but it really belongs to you, the community.
In those 10 years we’ve all done some good work together :
Donated almost $58,000 to music-education causes
Produced more than 70 free concerts
Funded an 8-week, interactive music class for students on the autism spectrum
Run “MusicKidz,” a monthly workshop for children K-5
Disbursed scholarships for students to attend a jazz and recording camp
Made grants to area group homes and after-school music programs
Developed an intern program in which local high-school students can learn audio production
Partnered with other nonprofits to keep music accessible and free
